Hey there! I’m Kitti, and fashion isn’t just a passion for me; it’s a way of life. Growing up with a hearing impairment, I’ve always relied on visual cues rather than sounds, fostering a deep connection with creativity, style, and all things visual. Sewing became my sanctuary early on, providing a medium where I could communicate and connect with the world on my terms.
In addition to my love for fashion, I’m also deeply invested in psychology. During my academic journey, I explored the complex relationship between psychology and fashion, exploring topics like self-assessment, personal style, sustainable fashion, and consumer behavior in my thesis.
Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword for me; it’s a guiding principle in my work. I exclusively source materials from second-hand sources like thrift and charity shops, turning overlooked treasures into fashion statements. My bags are always filled to the brim with scraps, threads, rubbers and zippers after a successful hunt.
In my work, I make it a priority to highlight the wasteful nature of the fashion industry, calling out the damaging effects of fast fashion and excessive consumption. I’m not shy about critiquing the culture of snobriety, where clothing is often used to display wealth and status. Instead, I urge everyone to reassess their fashion choices, encouraging eco-conscious thinking and a rejection of harmful industry practices. Let’s collectively turn towards sustainable fashion, where style is combined with ethical responsibility, reshaping the narrative of the fashion world for the better.
